Classic Ninja Titles Coming via Limited Run Games

Classic collectors rejoice: we’re teaming up with Limited Run Games to reprint some of Natsume’s classic titles on REAL cartridges! Dust off those classic systems – we’ve got some hot games coming your way, and pre-orders are open RIGHT NOW!

First up is the NES classic, SHADOW OF THE NINJA (also known as Blue Shadow in PAL territories). This is a working cartridge, playable on both classic NES systems and compatible clone consoles! Both a standard edition (click me!) and collector’s edition (click me!) are available to pre-order for just one month.

Shadow of the Ninja was one of the first NES games with a female character, including co-op multiplayer games! It’s 2029, and an evil emperor has taken over the USA! Join Lord Hayate and Lady Kaede of the Iga clan as they infiltrate his secret hideout to assassinate Garuda and end his evil reign for good.

If you haven’t experienced this tough-as-nails sidescroller, now you’ll have the opportunity to do so!

Second up is the spiritual successor released on GBC, RETURN OF THE NINJA! This is a working cartridge, playable on both classic GBC systems and compatible clone consoles! Both a standard edition (click me!) and collector’s edition (click me!) are available to pre-order for just one month.

It’s up to Lord Tsukikage and Lady Saiyuri to once again save the world! The once-honorable Iga clan, whom the mighty heroes of Shadow of the Ninja belonged to, has fallen to the side of darkness. Evil clan members have stolen a secret scroll and intend to use it to bring war upon the earth! Use ancient ninja techniques and master the five elements to be sure this plan never comes to fruition.

This challenging sidescroller had a small release back in 2001, but two decaides later you’ll have the opportunity to grab a real physical copy!

Pre-orders for both titles open Friday, November 27th and end on December 27th at 11:59pm Eastern Time. Curious about how Limited Run Games pre-orders work? We have a FAQ right here.

Limited Run Games Pre-Order FAQ

Got questions? We hopefully have the answers you’re looking for!

  • Who the heck is Limited Run Games?!
Limited Run Games (often referred to as LRG) was founded in 2015 to create…well…limited runs of digital only titles and classic console reprints. They’re awesome.
  • So what am I buying?
For retro reproductions: You’ll have four weeks to pre-order either a standard edition of a game, or a collector’s edition of a game. Each will come with a fully functioning retro cart, playable on either the original release system or compatible clone systems.
For new games: You’ll have four weeks to pre-order a collector’s edition bundle. Each will come with a game on the system of your choice, and any accompanying goodies.
  • Do I get it right away?
As this is a pre-order, you’re buying for something in advance.

For retro reproductions: Once pre-orders close, LRG orders enough carts and goodies, then assembles and ships them out to customers. Expect to receive your order about six months after the pre-order period ends.

For new titles: Once pre-orders close, LRG waits for the games to arrive, then assembles and ships them out to customers. We strive to have these arrive as close to launch date as possible.
  • Where does Limited Run Games ship to?
LRG ships internationally! Shipping costs vary depending on the weight of the product, the number of items in your order, and your specific location. It is automatically calculated at checkout.
  • How many copies will be printed?
LRG only prints enough to cover how many are ordered, you can’t wait until they’re produced to get one. Buy when pre-orders open or miss out!
  • I have a question you didn’t answer!

You can see the full LRG buying guide here –> Click me!

Natsume Indies Presents: ConnecTank

In case you missed it, we revealed a new Natsume Indies title at the start of September! We’re pleased to be partnering with YummyYummyTummy for one of their upcoming titles. So you’re probably looki…HEY!?

“Pardon me, old bean, I’m Finneas Fat Cat the Fifteenth, owner of Fat Cat Shipping Incorporated,” Mr. Fat Cat interruptedly purred. “We’re the largest overland shipping company in New Pangea and own a fleet of big honking tanks to defend it.”

“We’re recruiting gamers to drive ConnecTanks to deliver goods to customers and greenbacks into my paws! Be sure to keep your eyes out for the console release of my game next year, hmm?”

AHEM. As I was saying before a certain rude interjection, ConnecTank is an upcoming indie title from the creative minds behind the Fallen Legacy series. You can learn more about YummyYummyTummy on their website right here.

Please be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for more information in 2021 as we reveal more behind the world of New Pangea, a certain fat cat entrepreneur, and first gameplay details.

Oh and expect to hear a lot more from this guy, cuz he can’t RESIST interrupting. A lot.
