Legends of Ethernal has launched on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC/Mac via Steam! From both Natsume and Lucid Dreams Studios we hope you’re having fun playing the game.
We have heard your feedback regarding the game’s difficulty, even at the Relaxed Mode. We want people to enjoy the game as it should be, based on the selected difficulty they want and expect, so our recent patch focuses on balance difficulty in the game while doing some bug fixes.
LEGENDS OF ETHERNAL PATCH 1.1
GAME BALANCE – Balanced general difficulty in Relaxed Mode, Easy, Normal, Hard and Hardcore based on players’ feedback. – Added more Ether drops through the game, particularly in the Dark Forest area. – Removed permadeath in Hardcore mode.
BUG FIXES – Spiders who exhibited unwanted behaviour when stunned now act like spiders should. – Corrected a handful of typos in the French localization.
This patch is available now on all platforms. Be sure to update your game and give it a whirl!

Coming home to discover his parents missing and his home destroyed, our unexpected hero must brave the wilds of Arkanys to find them. Searching high and low, this action-adventure title will bring Wilfred in contact with a myriad of living and dead creatures that inhabit his world!
The Undead are a staple in many games, and Wilfred will need to face these daunting haunted foes in his journey to rescue his family.
Wielding a variety of weapons and armour, players will need to watch and learn how to conquer each type of skeletal minion to continue forward on their quest!
A dance party?! No! Experimenting with poses for animation. See if you can spot these once you’re in the game; some have been tweaked, so be sure to keep a sharp eye out for them!

Whether you’re a grizzled veteran of the platform genre, or a mini-Mario in the making, Legends of Ethernal has a difficulty mode that’s perfect for young and old, experienced or newcomer.
Relaxed Mode
New to the platforming genre? Need some assistance? Playing with your little one? Just want to, well, relax? This mode is for you! Additional platforms are available, and enemies will be adjusted. Relaxed mode is for everyone, no matter their reasons, because we want everyone to enjoy the amazing world of Arkanys
Easy
Similar to Relaxed Mode, but with fewer additional platforms. Enemies remain slightly adjusted. For those who want a touch more challenge.
Normal
The default difficulty mode the game was created with. Balances platforming sections and enemies to be overall challenging. Expect to die occasionally.
Hard
Noticeably more challenging than Normal, enemies are demonstrably more difficult. Platforming sections have additional challenges. Expect to die regularly.
Hardcore
The Dark Souls of platfo…just kidding. Enemies are significantly more challenging. Platforming sections are grueling. Permadeath is enabled, which means if you die, you’re going back to the start of the game. You have been warned!

Bats don’t just live in belfries – they’re a staple pest in your ongoing journey. They’re even featured in many places in Legend of Ethernal’s artwork, as seen above, and chasing poor Wilfred below.
Similar to bats, crows are a regular barrier to progress, and Wilfred’s farm was no doubt regularly harassed by these flying foes. They take on a new, more dangerous twist when he explores further out from his home than he’s ever gone before.

Our Natsume Indies teams come in sizes bigger and smaller. We’ve talked a lot in the past about how Cosmic Defenders was made by a single developer from a game jam idea, but our recently announced partnership with Lucid Dreams Studio is a little bigger.
Co-founders Maxime Grégoire and Francis Lapierre have quite the pedigree of games under their belt — both joined the gaming dev scene in 2008, and their credits include titles like Tomb Raider, Life is Strange, Just Cause 3, Thief, and multiple games in the Far Cry series. Nice!
Located in the amazing city of Montréal, Québec, Canada, Lucid Dreams is a team of five, each with their own areas of expertise. Legends of Ethernal will be their first title together as a studio, and we’re excited to be working with them on this beautiful and exciting action title.

We’re excited to be revealing a little more about the tale of Wilfred, the main character in the upcoming Natsume Indies title! Developed by Lucid Dreams Studio, Legends of Ethernal will be launching on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC/MacOS this fall.
It was a lazy summer day like any other for Wilfred… However, after returning home, he finds his house ransacked, and his parents gone…
Who or what has taken them? And to where? Wilfred puts his fears aside and sets off on an adventure to find them, an adventure that will span his entirely world.
Arkanys is a land of many creatures: the majestic Jarkens, birthed from the sap of Mehdhun Tree, often live as long as a millennium. The Brüwigs: An amphibious folk who are skilled swimmers with strong lungs. Their sturdy lungs are likely a reason for their favored weapons: blowguns, with which they can use to fire darts over long distances.
The haunting Dakrei: An omnivorous, venomous insect-like race with a huge queen as their leader. Wilfred will come face to face with these creatures — and more — in the world of Legends of Ethernal. But who is friend? And who is foe? All shall be revealed in time…

The team at Lucid Dreams Studio spent countless hours creating Wilfred’s world of Arkanys and developing its lore. Legends of Ethernal is a 2D adventure game with challenging gameplay but it also tells a compelling story that immerses the player in Arkanys through Wilfred’s courageous adventure.
With each boss defeated, NPC met, and level up, players unravel the truth behind his mysterious parents’ disappearance.
